Burlap's Back Alright!

If you like what you see here be sure to check out our 24/7 Online Boutique Reclaim-ologists and Other Crafty Chicks!

I hope you sang the title to the tune of our beloved boy band, The Backstreet Boys! Now that you are totally singing with JC and the crew, let’s get back to what hot this decade…BURLAP! If you haven’t been on the world wide web in the last year, you are totally missing out on the hottest, most versatile, and amazing fabric on the market right now. Burlap has made a major comeback and is seen everywhere. I currently am obsessed with the texture and possibilities that it brings. I started the year off with a simple burlap ruffle wreath. It was instantly a hot item and I made many custom orders.
So fun, right!?
Next, I invested in some orange and green burlap to mass produce these cute carrot wreaths just in time for Easter!

After wracking my brain, aka stalking on Pinterest, I decided the bubble burlap wreath was definitely next on my "Burlap To-Do List".

I think I have made one in just about every color possible. I can't get enough of these fluffy rings!
With burlap still on my mind, I decided to give new life to this little beauty I found at the local thrift store.
With a little spray paint and a whole lot of time, the out-come was the perfect lamp base and ruffle burlap wreath to sit prettily on my entry table.
Burlap has no boundaries, people.
Unlike The Backstreet Boys, I believe that burlap isn't going to fade into outer darkness. So PLEASE do me a favor and jump on the burlap bandwagon. You'll thank me...I promise, and I never break a promise!
xoxo, Morgan

What is your design style?

If you like what you see here be sure to check out our 24/7 Online Boutique Reclaim-ologists and Other Crafty Chicks!

Quick: what one word best describes your decorating style?
Not sure? Don’t worry, you’re not alone! Even if you love decorating, it’s not always easy to pinpoint exactly what makes your house your home. But once you know what to call your style, you’ll find decorating decisions become so much easier – and shopping that much more exciting!
You probably have sooooo many projects you would like to tackle, sooooo many different styles that you LOVE,yet there's a nagging hurdle that's preventing you from putting your projects in motion.
YOURSELF!
That's right. You have so many thoughts running around your head that you cant figure out the direction you need to go to begin transforming your ideas into beautiful spaces. There is an easy way to defeat that design block that has you dragging your feet. Determining your design style will you help you step into the right direction!

Eclectic Style-This is my favorite!! I really love mixing other styles together. The natural woods with primitives, cozy cottage white fabrics, worn reclaimed items throw in a reclaimed piece of furniture describes our home perfectly! You will find many of these type of things in my home. I am also a big lover of decorating with family photos. Surrounding myself with the ones I love!
Beachy Style-This is such a great style-crisp white furniture and walls and blues with pops of nautical decor and warm woods give any home a cozy beachy feel. You don't have to live on the beach to feel like you do!
Primitives Style-There is a special place in my heart for the love of primitive style! Usually this style is antiqued with yellows, deep reds, greens black & navy blues. The perfect antique items displayed with love around the room. Braided rugs are commonly found in primitive styled homes along with different wood grains combined together to create a warm comfy feeling. Makes me feel like I want to curl up in front of the fireplace with a good book and a quilt!
French Country Style-This style usually includes a collection of various patterns, stripes with floral just like in this picture. Furniture items are usually ornate with wood and alot of curved edges and style to them. Greens, pinks, whites and some blues are usually the colors of choice. I love me some french country style mixed with a cottage feel myself.
Modern Decor Style- This style uses alot of straight lines with some dramatic colors. Sometimes furniture can be a blunt shape or hanging art can be whimsical, dramatic or abstract. This pictured room has alot of straight lines along with a pop of dramatic color in furniture but the rug underneath the round coffee table warms up the space.

How to "reclaim" knobs and handles and save $$!

Hi, this is Kristin!  If you are thinking of refinishing kitchen cabinets or a dresser, buying new knobs can be a huge expense. Today I am going to show you how to redo your existing knobs and handles for a fraction of the cost of buying new ones.
The first thing you need to do is remove dust and dirt from the handles by wiping them down with a damp rag.

Now they are ready to prime.  I use Zinsser Cover Stain, but you can also use a can of Rustoleum metal primer.
I usually only apply one coat of primer and let it dry for a couple of hours.  Once they are dry, lightly sand them with some 220 grit sandpaper. You are now ready to apply your choice of paint color.  I used black spray paint by Rustoleum.
I spray on two coats of paint, waiting at least 2-3 hours between coats.
 All done!

Whats Your Color Preference?

If you like what you see here be sure to check out our 24/7 Online Boutique Reclaim-ologists and Other Crafty Chicks!

Did you know, we have a Projects in the Making photo album on our page? And along with that album, we also have a new Custom Order album, and what makes these two so wonderful? Well, its all about color! You can find a piece that you love, and YOU get to decide what color to paint it! Now, if your anything like me, you might be stressing out just thinking of the thought. Picking a color for a piece in my home, sends me into a sweaty panic. No kidding. I have the hardest time, and most likely than not I will debate and debate with myself, and eventually just go with my go to,  good ol' cream. It drives my hubby crazy, but that's just how things roll for me. I have to admit, I super LOVE color, but I am always to scared to use it in my décor. But as I have been researching colors, I believe I am on the verge of a change. Color is huge in home décor lately, especially on just one or two big/small accent pieces.
One of the most popular colors this year is, Emerald Green.

Well, according to Pantone.com. And I am kind of loving it! Aren't you?

How about all these lovelies I found on Home Beautiful, on their list of most popular home accent colors?

I'm not sure why some of us are so afraid of color. Its a chance for us to bring our personalities into our surroundings.

And I will admit, when I first saw that Patones color of the year was emerald, I was scared, really scared, but look at some examples I found
Is this not simple beautiful!?
It doesn't need to be the 'bright in your face' green, its all shades.
It goes along with a huge trend right now, which is white or gray decorating, with splashes of wonderful color here and there.
Like this
How simply wonderful is that blue hutch, on a white back ground....(swoon). Just look at that color pallet below it, you never would have thought that mixing those colors would turn out as divinely as that, huh? I think the trick is, is too not use to much color, but use one or two furniture/accent pieces in your favorite color.
I found a wonderful tool, to help create your own color pallet HERE, so hurry and get your colors picked so you can  come to our page and pick a piece to make your very own.

And guess what, all of our Reclaim-ologists and Crafty Chicks have already been hard at work getting fabulous colorful things ready to be purchased, just take a look at these wonderful pieces..
I love this green used on this bench,, the perfect shade of emerald I think...

And look at all these wonderful bits of color here! All work perfectly with what we have been talking about today.

These chairs speak for themselves, simple AMAZING!

Double love this.

This pop of yellow just makes me smile, :)

And how awesomely terrific is this?

And this custom color that Mandy and her husband came up with, is just to die for!

Visit our page HERE to find which pieces are being sold today!!

So we are all set and ready for you to tell us what color sings to you, and we would love to be the ones to bring it into your homes. Don't be afraid to add some color into your homes, like I have showed you today, it doesn't need to be overwhelming. Don't go and redo a whole room in  the color green, haha, just some accent pieces will work wonders, believe me, and the best part is, if you try it out in a few spots, and decide it doesn't make you as happy as you thought it would, its easy peasy to switch it out with another splash of color.
So who's with me, I am officially declaring today, that cream is not going to keep being my go to color any longer. (I'm sweating already) but I am determined to be a little bit more daring in my décor, and I just know that I am going to find a color that I wont be able to live without.
Have a fun BRIGHT happy day :)
