Nursery Remodel

If you like what you see here be sure to check out our 24/7 Online Boutique Reclaim-ologists and Other Crafty Chicks!

Hi!  Alese here!  One of the crafters from Reclaim-ologists and Other Crafty Chicks and Creative Blogger at 2 Crafty 4 My Skirt.

Before we had our son we had to do some remodeling to prepare for his arrival. I knew I wanted it to have a farm/cowboy theme. I love how it turned out!  But it was quite a journey to get there.

This is where it started.

Our home is more than 100 years old.  And I think previous tenants must have added a layer of wall paper every year!  There were so many layers!  And the walls were a fiber board that just kind of crumbled if you did much with it.  We opted to do a little framing and just sheet rock over it rather than deal with all of that wall paper.

The sheetrock by far took the most work.  Not really hanging it, but mudding the seams and screws and sanding them all down!  It is just a tedious process.  But I can't complain my husband did most of it!

After that we used a Texture Gun to add texture to the walls, then hung beadboard and painted, before we got the new carpet!

We also had to frame in and hang all of these doors, and had to build the closet door ourselves since they didn't sell a standard door that size.  We basically just sandwiched 2x4's between plywood, covered it with beadboard, and added hinges.

This darling mobile was made by my sister-in-law, Kortnie who is also a member of the group. She cut out bronc riders with a cricut, then punched holes in them to hang them from string. Believe it or not the top loop is a fan belt!  She just tied the string to the fan belt, and hung it all from ribbon!  I LOVE it!

I love shopping on Amazon.com. These are some of the items I bought from there and used to decorate this room:
