Hi this is Jodi, I love up-cycling old furniture into new pieces. Especially when you can take a discarded headboard or chair and use it for your flower garden and porch.
Any headboard can work. Having the foot board is a bonus. I cut the foot board in half, attached it with screws to the headboard and then added an old cupboard door for the seat. I added a piece of crown molding to the front. Next I cut 3 holes in the seat for my flowers using a jig saw. I picked a bright fun color to paint it so it would pop. I then sealed it with a couple coats to protect it from the weather.
I bought a few chairs and decided to make them into a holder for a flower pot. Super easy and so cute! I cut a hole in the seat (again with the jig saw) and then primed and painted it. Next I distressed it a bit and then sealed it. I love the bright blue and love how it looks on my front porch.
What do you have in your flower beds? The possibilities are endless. Leave a comment and share this on Facebook to win a flower pot chair for your front porch! Make sure you like us on Facebook too! Winner will be announced on Friday May 17th.
*Chair is located in American fork Utah. Flowers not included. Winner will need to pick up chair.
I have been using old tin buckets and water basins and old toy trucks. One thing I would love to do is find various old suitcases and stack and plant flowers in them cascading out. Would be so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds amazing! I love old suitcases, adding flowers would be so pretty!
DeleteI have a couple of old milk cans and few cool rocks passed on to us from my husbands grandfather!
ReplyDeleteJust what my front porch is missing. LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI have an old wire wheelbarrel planter that I painted . . . A chair would look darling next to it.
