How Reclaimologists And Other Crafty Chicks Started

I have been thinking for two days about this blog post and what I was going to share with you.  Well today it hit me!  I thought I would share how the Reclaim-ologists and Other Crafty Chicks came about.

Last year at this time on this day as a matter of fact I was at Primary Children's Hospital with my 14 year old son and had been there for a week.  A month and a half earlier he lost his ability to walk and we had no answers.  Frustrating? Scary? YES!  It changed our entire lives.  When we went to the hospital we really did not know if he would walk again and neither did the doctors.  After intense therapy, prayers and determination last year on May 31st my son walked again.  A week later he came home.

When we got home we realized as a family it was very important that I be home and available for him.  At the time I was in a business partnership and had to make a decision.  We chose for me to quit and stay home with my family.  It was so scary!  We just went through 2 months of acquiring huge medical bills and I just quit my job on top of it.  I was not sure what I was going to do to replace that income but I knew I had to do something.

I have always been a crafter and it has always been my go-to place for extra income for our family.  A couple weeks went by and I found the indoor yard sales on facebook.  I bought an end table set, made it pretty and sold it on the yard sale to Amy.  I had always know Amy but never gotten to really know her.  We immediately became good friends and talked about how we should come up with a page that has the coolest of stuff.  By that I mean the stuff we love.  A few days later the Reclaim-ologists page was born.  It immediately took off and then one of my long time friends Mandy joined us.  I could not think of two better friends to have started this out with.

That was it from there we kept looking for the best crafters and they joined us.  We could not believe it!  It has grown into the 20 amazing crafters, collectors and artists that our page is known for today.

In all of this I think back to what had to happen in my life for this wonderful opportunity to open up.  Sometimes it does not make sense why things fall apart or happen but I truly believe if you are open to the process there can be better opportunity right around the corner.  Our little idea and page has helped our family stay afloat financially this past year.  It has given me the opportunity to be home with my husband and children.  I have gained friendships that are priceless and met some of the most amazing people.  The excitement I have each day in all of it is so much fun I cannot even begin to tell you!

The Reclaim-ologists and Other Crafty Chicks page has become a part of my heart.  It has been healing.  I know without a doubt none of this would be possible without amazing customers and friends.  I hope you really know how much I appreciate each of you.
Thank you!

Today do me a favor and walk somewhere.  It does not matter where just walk, enjoy every step just because you can.

XO Shannon
